DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) — The Dubuque Fire Department showed off its latest fleet addition—the 2025 E-One Cyclone ladder truck.

Dubuque’s newest fire rescue equipment cost $1.4 million. Sporting a 75-foot ladder and a 2,000 gallons per minute hose capacity, the new truck still weighs less and can get into tighter spaces than previous models. The reduced weight also cuts down on fuel consumption.

A group of Boy Scouts got a chance to hop in the new truck, including 10-year-old Dillon, who’s thinking about becoming a firefighter.

“It was amazing. I did not expect that and I actually learned a lot from doing this,” Dillon said.

Dubuque Fire Chief Amy Scheller said the new truck will require less maintenance.

“Maintenance levels on this will be decreased. It’s lighter, a little bit of a pitbull for our fire department,” Scheller said.

Scheller said it will take a couple months for firefighters to train on the truck and use it in an emergency.

When the new ladder truck will be placed into service, it will be housed at Station 4 at the intersection of N. Grandview Ave. and University Ave.
